Heat Gains Strength at Month Transition with Rising Temperatures and Rougher Seas

The week marking the transition between June and July in Madeira will be characterized by a rise in maximum temperatures, particularly in high-altitude areas, where values close to 27 ºC are expected. The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) also warns of increased wind intensity, potentially affecting operations at Madeira Airport, and worsening sea swell, especially off Travessa.

In Funchal, maximum temperatures are forecast to be around 26-27 ºC, with tropical nights gradually returning from Wednesday. In higher areas, such as Areeiro, the warming will be more pronounced, potentially reaching about 27 ºC by the end of the week. The ultraviolet radiation index will remain very high, requiring extra caution with sun exposure.
