Hospital Emergency Room Upgrades Provide Better Working Conditions

The Regional Secretary of Health, Micaela Fonseca de Freitas, visited the new facilities at the Nélio Mendonça Hospital's Emergency Service, which include rest areas, changing rooms, and a dining area for the staff.

This investment of approximately half a million euros aims to provide greater comfort, dignity, and improved working conditions for healthcare professionals. The secretary emphasized the importance of these spaces for the quality of patient care.

A general rehabilitation project for the Emergency Service, costing around 1.3 million euros, is also underway. This phase includes upgrading the air conditioning, electrical and communication systems, replacing flooring and wall coverings, and enhancing fire safety and the exterior entrance. The work is being carried out in phases to minimize disruption to the continuous service.
