The Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection, Micaela Freitas, visited the new rest, changing, and dining areas of the Emergency Department at Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital. Accompanied by the Chairperson of the SESARAM Board of Directors, Márcia Gomes, the visit highlighted an investment of approximately half a million euros.
These new spaces aim to provide greater comfort, dignity, and better working conditions for the health teams. Micaela Freitas stated that these facilities are necessary and deserved, reflecting positively on the quality of patient care.
In addition, a general rehabilitation project for the Emergency Department is underway, with an investment of 1.3 million euros. This includes modernization of systems, reinforcement of networks, replacement of flooring, and safety improvements. The work is being carried out in phases to minimize disruption to services.
