IFCN Increases Access to Vereda do Areeiro with 140 Additional Daily Spaces

The Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) will increase access to the Vereda do Areeiro (PR1) trail, connecting Pico do Areeiro to Pico Ruivo, by creating 140 new daily spaces. These additional spots will be available starting Sunday, June 21st, through two new entry times on the SIMplifica platform, where reservations are mandatory.

The new slots, each accommodating 70 visitors, will operate between 7:00-7:30 am and 7:30-8:00 am. This initiative aims to address the growing interest in PR1, one of Madeira's most popular trails, and enhance visitor flow management for a more organized and safer experience.

Furthermore, starting June 26th, the PR1 trail will be open daily, removing previous day-specific access limitations. The new space allocation, including the added times, will become a permanent part of the trail's access management model.
