The Iniciativa Liberal (IL) questions the decision to keep Urgent Care Services (SAU) operating throughout the night in units with "residual" demand. According to the party, this health policy is based more on "announcements and indiscriminate allocation of resources" than on responsible management.
The party points out that, although there are eight units operating 24 hours, demand between midnight and 8 am is "extremely reduced" in several of them, being "practically nil" in Porto Moniz. The IL argues that decisions on SAU operations should be based on real needs and demand data, not political factors.
The Iniciativa Liberal finds the closure and reopening of services without a change in demand concerning and emphasizes that each professional assigned to low-traffic locations is a resource that could be allocated elsewhere. The party demands that the Regional Government disclose the nighttime costs of each SAU and present a public evaluation of the relationship between resources and services provided.
