The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has placed Porto Santo under a yellow weather alert due to hot conditions. Existing alerts for the island of Madeira have also been extended due to persistently high maximum temperatures.
The yellow alert for Porto Santo is in effect from Tuesday at 10 AM to Wednesday at 10 PM. On Madeira's South Coast, the yellow alert has been extended until Thursday, August 6th, at 7 PM.
In Madeira's mountainous regions, the orange alert for hot weather remains until Tuesday at 7 PM, transitioning to yellow until Thursday at 7 PM. The IPMA attributes these alerts to forecasts of high maximum temperatures, particularly in Madeira's higher elevations and Porto Santo.
