The Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has extended a yellow alert for hot weather.
The alert covers the southern coast and mountainous regions of the island of Madeira.
It remains in effect until 7 PM on Wednesday, August 5th, due to persistently high maximum temperatures.
