The Autonomous Region of Madeira will be represented at the ICF SUP World Cup 2026 event, taking place from June 24-28 in Torquay, England. Athlete João Lourenço Viveiros, from Ludens Clube de Machico, will compete in the Sprint and Technical Race disciplines.

The competition, considered one of the most important international Stand Up Paddle (SUP) events, is part of the Paddle UK SUPER Festival and will bring together around 200 of the world's top athletes. This marks the first time an event of this magnitude from the International Canoe Federation is held in the United Kingdom.

Viveiros' participation is seen as an opportunity to promote the work of Ludens Clube de Machico and establish Madeira on the international SUP scene, as well as a challenge to test his skills against the world's best.
