The JPP party has once again raised concerns about the challenges faced by home care workers, criticizing what it deems a contradiction between the Regional Government's discourse on strengthening home support and the on-the-ground reality.
During a press conference, JPP president Lina Pereira advocated for the recognition of these professionals and questioned the decrease in the number of elderly individuals receiving Home Support Service (SAD). According to the party, between March 2024 and July of this year, the number of elderly people with home support dropped from 3,272 to 3,100.
Lina Pereira also criticized the announcement of measures during the holiday period, which she believes penalize the most vulnerable citizens. She pointed to the reprogramming of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), which involved a cut of approximately 500 beds in continuing care and residential structures, while simultaneously emphasizing home support.
