The JPP Parliamentary Group considers the creation of an access solution to the Via Rápida in the Água de Pena area, Machico, "pressing". The party proposes the construction of an entrance in the Machico–Caniçal direction, in addition to a previously announced solution.
The position is part of a draft resolution to be presented to the Legislative Assembly of Madeira. The JPP recalls that, in December 2023, the Regional Government reportedly validated a proposal for an alternative access, but the process has seen no progress.
Luís Martins, JPP deputy, argues that "decisions must take into account criteria of road safety, functionality, financial sustainability, and rational use of existing public infrastructure". The party suggests an integrated assessment of entry and exit possibilities for the Via Rápida in the area.
