JPP Demands Explanations on Machico Beach Water Contamination

The local branch of the Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) party in Machico has requested "urgent and transparent clarifications" from public health authorities following recent news about contamination of the Machico beach water. The party notes that the bathing area has been closed three times in the past two months.

The JPP is questioning the origin of the problem, the solutions being developed, and the potential consequences for public health. The party argues that just as the municipality communicates awards received for its beaches, it should also "rigorously inform" the population about these issues.

The Banda D’Além Beach in Machico was temporarily closed for bathing after the detection of microbiological contamination parameters in the water, a measure determined by the Regional Health Authority.
