The JPP party has once again questioned the Funchal Municipal Council regarding the future of the promised urban redevelopment of the centre of the Santo António parish. The JPP accuses the local authority of failing to clarify the project's status.
According to JPP, councillor Fátima Aveiro recalled that the Mayor, Jorge Carvalho, had assured during the election campaign that the intervention was "a reality", stating the project already existed and was out for tender. However, the party considers it a contradiction that the Vice-Mayor, Carlos Rodrigues, stated at the last council meeting that the project did not exist.
The JPP councillors argue that the population deserves to know the project details, execution timeline, and financial framework, highlighting the intervention's importance for addressing circulation, parking, accessibility, and public space organization issues. The party has submitted a recommendation to the Funchal Council to reaffirm its commitment to the centre's redevelopment.
