Opposition Criticizes Government's Optimistic Budget Forecasts

Several opposition parties in Madeira have expressed skepticism regarding the budget forecasts presented by the Regional Government, deeming them overly optimistic.

Gonçalo Leite Velho (PS) challenged the accuracy of the projections, recalling recent government missteps, such as those concerning inflation. Gonçalo Maia Camelo (IL) doubted the improvement of the international situation and its economic effects. Luís Martins (JPP) and Victor Freitas requested clarification on budget funds for future years, particularly after the end of funding from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), which signifies a reduction of 350 million euros in projected revenues for the upcoming year.
