The leader of Chega (CH), Hugo Nunes, has contested the Regional Government's budget forecasts, presented by Duarte Freitas. Nunes stated that the executive "confesses its incompetence" by projecting a deficit of 75.2 million euros for 2026.
Nunes questioned how the government could forecast such a deficit in a year when the regional economy is setting records. He also accused the executive of "playing monopoly with public accounts" while families struggle financially due to inflation.
As a structural measure, CH proposes an "audit of public spending in all secretariats and autonomous funds" to ensure more responsible management of public funds.
