The REAGIR party has criticized statements by the regional secretary of Education, Elsa Fernandes, regarding delays in the correction of national exams. According to REAGIR, the Regional Government is disclaiming responsibility for a problem affecting students, families, and teachers in Madeira.
In a statement, the party recalled being among the first nationally to warn of flaws in the exam correction process, arguing that the situation has moved beyond a technological issue to become a "true political failure." REAGIR believes the Madeiran executive cannot "wash its hands" of a situation that directly harms the region's students, who rely on these results for higher education access.
The party asserts that the Regional Government should have intervened with the Ministry of Education to demand clarification and defend the interests of Madeiran students and teachers, rather than adopting a stance of detachment. REAGIR questions the credibility of the national exams given the successive failures and improvisations, emphasizing that governing involves defending citizens when they are harmed.
