The Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) party has raised concerns about faults within the SIGA public transport ticketing system in Madeira and Porto Santo. According to the JPP, these issues are disrupting passenger journeys, causing difficulties for drivers, and preventing operators from collecting fares.
JPP deputy Paulo Alves stated that the party has received passenger complaints regarding faulty equipment on buses. The party emphasizes the need for proper equipment maintenance, reliable digital systems, and effective integration.
Furthermore, the JPP urged the Regional Government to settle outstanding compensation payments to transport operators. The party warned that payment delays could undermine the financial stability and service quality of operators, citing a case of workers on temporary lay-off as an indicator of financial strain.
