JPP Reports Over 146,000 Patients on Madeira's Health Waiting Lists

The Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) party has released an update on the waiting lists for Madeira's Autonomous Region Health Service (SESARAM), with data from the end of 2025. These figures, made available through the party's Transparency Portal, indicate that over 146,000 patient records are awaiting attention from public health services.

The public-access tool compiles information on the number of users waiting for specialist consultations, diagnostic tests, and surgeries in the region. According to the data, 60,912 users are waiting for specialist appointments, 67,187 are on the waiting list for diagnostic tests, and over 18,000 users are registered for surgery.

The JPP criticizes the health management in Madeira, stating that these "unprecedented" numbers reflect the "disarray" of the current governance. The party asserts that the Transparency Portal serves as a "party scrutiny instrument" exposing "truths the government prefers to keep hidden," highlighting SESARAM's difficulties in meeting population needs.
