JPP Youth calls Madeira-Lisbon flight prices an "insult"

The Youth wing of Juntos Pelo Povo (JJPP) has highlighted the difficulties Madeiran families face in August due to the cost of flights to the mainland. Nino Pereira, a JJPP member, stated that round-trip tickets between Madeira and the continent can cost between 600 and 700 euros.

Pereira noted that this cost, which can reach 1,400 euros for two people, is equivalent to a Madeiran's gross monthly salary. The JJPP also criticized the functioning of the Territorial Continuity Mechanism (MCT), particularly for students without a matrícula certificate who are excluded from the Insular Student platform and must initially pay the full ticket price.

The organization questioned the Regional Government's stance, which initially supported changes to the mechanism made by the national government, arguing that the state treats residents of the Autonomous Regions poorly.
