Melim accused the JPP of maintaining a "double discourse" regarding investments in the municipality, particularly the Ponta do Pargo golf course project. He criticized the party for not confronting the local population with criticisms made from Funchal.
The statements were made during the inauguration of Afonso Marciel as the new president of JSD Calheta, succeeding Karine Meneses. Marciel pledged to "do more for the youth of the municipality," focusing on education, housing, and employment, and combating disinformation.
