The Madeira ADN party believes that the growth in tourism activity on the island is not translating into an equivalent improvement in family living conditions. The party points to the rising prices of housing, fuel, and other goods and services as factors impacting purchasing power.
According to the party, regional year-on-year inflation stood at 4.1%, above the national average of 3.3%, with significant increases in energy products (14.2%) and transport (8%). The ADN also highlights the rise in median housing rent and the median price of real estate transactions, contrasting with a slight decrease in average gross monthly remuneration in real terms.
The party advocates for increased support to mitigate fuel and energy costs, the acceleration of affordable housing supply, and the creation of a regional cost of living index. Madeira ADN argues that island status exacerbates costs for families and concludes, "It is not enough for Madeira to grow in statistics. Madeirans need to be able to live better in Madeira."
