The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, announced that over 216 public housing units are planned for the municipality of Câmara de Lobos.
This initiative aims to alleviate the housing shortage in the region, responding to real estate market pressure on agricultural areas, as evidenced by the relocation of the traditional Grape Harvest Festival due to private development.
Albuquerque downplayed concerns about the disappearance of agricultural land, stating that market forces and technological modernization will dictate balance, and those who profit from the land will not abandon it.
