Junquito Support Center Assists Over 500 People Post-Earthquake

The support center in Junquito, Venezuela, has provided assistance to over 500 people since the earthquake, with dozens of families daily seeking medicine, food, clothing, and hygiene products. The facility, led by Ana María, daughter of Madeiran emigrants, is sustained by community solidarity.

The center serves between one hundred and 120 individuals daily, and the demand for essential goods such as medication, food, hygiene items, and even pet food remains high. A volunteer medical post also operates for patient consultations and treatment prescriptions.

Most of the distributed goods are donations from individuals, neighbors, and businesses, with a notable contribution from the Portuguese community, supplying fresh agricultural produce. Junquito, already a poor area, saw its situation worsened by the earthquake, but the Madeiran community, estimated at about a tenth of the local population, plays a crucial role in the emergency response.
