A man of Kazakh nationality, approximately 30 years old, was rescued this morning after falling yesterday on a trail leading to Pico Ruivo, in the municipality of Santana.
The rescue operation, which lasted several hours, was completed at 9:47 am this Friday, August 28th. The tourist was removed from the hard-to-reach area by the mountain rescue team and taken to Civil Protection facilities, where an ambulance was waiting to transport him to the hospital.
The Kazakh citizen, who was alone, fell shortly after lunch yesterday and was unable to leave the area on his own. Despite being conscious, he contacted 112 via mobile phone, providing his location coordinates. The operation was hindered by the victim's location and adverse weather conditions.
