A large rock broke loose from the slope of Fajã da Areia and fell onto the terrace of a restaurant in the coastal area of Baía dos Juncos, in São Vicente, on Friday afternoon.
People were in the area at the time, but everyone managed to get clear in time. The incident caused property damage but no serious injuries. One report indicates a person may have been hit on the wrist by a fragment, though everyone was reported to be unharmed overall.
The boulder lodged between the restaurant and a neighbouring house, a few metres from the road. The Municipal Civil Protection Service removed the stone and cleaned the area.
