Liberal Initiative Insists on Deepening Madeira's Autonomy

Mariana Leitão, leader of the Liberal Initiative (IL), emphasized the importance of deepening regional autonomies, indicating that the party will present proposals related to Madeira's demands within the State Budget framework.

"There is the issue of autonomy, which is important to us, an autonomy that needed to be reinforced," Leitão stated in Machico, Madeira. The IL will advocate for greater fiscal power for the region and self-management of resources, criticizing the current constitutional review which, according to the leader, has been postponed by the PSD.

Leitão also criticized the 2027 State Budget, deeming it fiscally burdensome with increased spending. The IL will present specific proposals for Madeira, focusing on issues such as mobility, as they believe the current budget does not meet the region's or the country's needs.
