The Association for the Promotion of Macaronesia of Madeira (APMM) participated in Brussels on July 2nd in the annual meeting of the Internal Consultative Groups, organized by the European Economic and Social Committee.
The initiative brought together civil society organizations from various member states to discuss topics such as EU trade agreements, sustainability, economic development, labor rights, and civic participation in European policymaking. APMM President Susana Gramilho attended and used the trip to develop an institutional agenda with various European entities.
Future collaboration possibilities were discussed with Cillian Lohan, President of Group III of the European Economic and Social Committee, and a pilot project proposal for Macaronesia in public health, environment, and sustainability was presented. The agenda also included meetings with the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy of the European Commission and with officials from the Interreg MAC Programme.
According to Susana Gramilho, the participation allowed for "a better understanding of the functioning of European institutions, establishing institutional contacts, and identifying cooperation opportunities that can contribute to the development of Macaronesia and the Autonomous Region of Madeira."
