Madeira Advances to Level IV of Silver Destination Sustainability Seal After EarthCheck Audit

Madeira has taken a significant step in its international sustainability certification, following an on-site audit by EarthCheck.

The Regional Government of Madeira (GR) announced that the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM) has progressed to Level IV of the Silver Destination Sustainability Seal. This advancement follows a rigorous on-site audit conducted by EarthCheck as part of the international certification renewal process.

Led by the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture, the initiative involves approximately 90 regional entities. The GR emphasizes that this collective effort demonstrates a community commitment to a sustainable development model, prioritizing territorial protection, innovation, and the enhancement of natural and cultural resources.

Madeira aims to achieve the Gold Seal by 2027, reinforcing its international standing as a destination that balances economic growth, quality of life, and environmental preservation. The EarthCheck certification is a globally recognized program for sustainability within the tourism and travel sector.
