The President of the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, Rubina Leal, visited the Madeiran Heritage Museum in New Bedford, United States. The museum is dedicated to preserving, studying, and disseminating the history of Madeiran emigration in the USA.

The visit, part of an official trip, allowed her to see the documentary, photographic, and ethnographic collection that portrays the journey of several generations of Madeirans who emigrated and maintained ties to their origins. Leal highlighted the museum's work as a "true legacy for future generations" and essential to Madeira's identity.

Rubina Leal also emphasized that Madeira extends through its emigrant and descendant communities, who promote Madeiran culture and traditions abroad. As a token of recognition, she presented the museum with an item commemorating the 50th anniversary of Autonomy and a book about the Region's journey.
