The BAM – Madeira Banana Museum welcomed 57,000 visitors between January 1 and September 15 this year, marking an approximate 25% increase compared to the same period in 2025. These figures, released by the Regional Government, suggest the museum, located in Ponta do Sol, is on track to surpass the 65,000 visits recorded throughout 2025.
The rise in visitor numbers follows the museum's achievement of positive financial results for the first time in 2025, enabling it to generate income for GESBA – the Banana Sector Management Company. Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries, Nuno Maciel, emphasized that the museum "has ceased to be a burden and has become an asset serving the banana sector," contributing to better prices for producers.
To celebrate World Banana Day, the museum is offering free admission to residents of Madeira throughout the day, featuring regional product stalls, gastronomic offerings, live music, and folklore groups, in an initiative aimed at honoring producers and connecting the public with banana cultivation.
