Madeira Business Confidence Indicators Declined in August

Business confidence indicators across all sectors in Madeira decreased in August compared to the previous month. This data was released by the Regional Statistics Directorate, based on qualitative business surveys.

The manufacturing industry's confidence indicator fell in August, reversing a four-month upward trend. This decline was attributed to negative contributions from production expectations, global demand opinions, and product stock assessments.

The construction and public works sector also experienced a drop in its confidence indicator in August, following a rise in July. The negative trend was influenced by order book levels and employment prospects. In retail, the confidence indicator decreased, negatively impacted by business activity outlook, stock volume, and sales volume.

In the services sector, the confidence indicator declined in both July and August, after increasing throughout the first half of the year. The negative trend was driven by future demand expectations, despite positive feedback on past order books and business activity.
