The island of Madeira, and specifically its capital, Funchal, has been distinguished as a "Hidden Gem" in the second edition of the Travellers’ Top Picks Awards, organized by Air Canada Vacations.
The award was the result of a vote involving over 1.3 million votes from Canadian travelers across ten categories. The winners for the 2026 edition were announced this Wednesday.
According to the Regional Secretary for Tourism, Eduardo Jesus, this recognition is particularly relevant as it directly reflects traveler choices, highlighting Madeira as a destination that sparks interest for unique experiences and distinct identity, reinforcing its promotion in the Canadian market.
