In 2024/2025, Madeira saw 856 higher education graduates, a slight 0.7% decrease, yet the number of male graduates reached its second-highest figure in historical records.

In the 2024/2025 academic year, the Autonomous Region of Madeira issued 856 higher education diplomas, a 0.7% decrease compared to the previous year. Despite this slight reduction, the number of male graduates reached its second-highest figure in the available statistical series.

Data released by the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) show that while women remain the majority (53.7%), their numbers decreased by 6.1%. Conversely, the number of male graduates increased by 6.5%, rising from 372 to 396, bringing their representation to 46.3%.

University education accounted for 60% of graduates, while polytechnic education represented 40%. The 20-24 age group comprised the majority of graduates (63.4%). Public institutions awarded 86.6% of the total diplomas, but private education saw a significant increase of 36.9%.
