The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries has signed a programme agreement with the Madeira Ornithological Association, providing up to €15,000 to support its operations and activities in 2026.
According to the signed document, the funding will cover essential costs such as bird feed, housing and transport equipment, veterinary care, medicines and biosecurity measures.
Regional Secretary Nuno Maciel praised the association's promotion of the activity and of the region in national and international competitions, as well as its attention to animal welfare. In October, the association helped organise the Madeira International Bird Exhibition in Funchal, which brought together 1,700 birds and 128 participants from six countries.
