The Madeira Photography Museum – Atelier Vicente's is celebrating World Photography Day on August 19th with a special program dedicated to the historical wet collodion photographic process.
The initiative, developed in partnership with the Five Historic Photography Studio from Sintra, begins on August 14th with the lecture "From Light to Memory – 19th Century Photographic Processes and Madeira's Photographic Heritage." The lecture will be led by specialists Filipe Barroso and Vera Gonçalves and will cover the evolution of photography, emphasizing wet collodion and honoring Madeiran pioneers.
Following the lecture, practical demonstrations of the 19th-century technique will be held. On August 18th and 19th, wet collodion portrait sessions will be available for a fee, allowing participants to take home a handcrafted photograph. One attendee of the inaugural lecture will win a free photo session through a raffle. Admission to the lecture and access to the demonstration area are free.
