The Regional Health Service of Madeira (Sesaram) has announced the regularization of co-payment collection for non-urgent or slightly urgent attendances at the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital's emergency department in Funchal.
These fees apply to attendances classified as slightly urgent (green) and non-urgent (blue), stemming from a national legal requirement reinforced by the Court of Auditors' recommendations.
Sesaram is notifying citizens to check their status and any potential exemptions. Exemptions include individuals up to 18 years old, pregnant women, those with a disability of 60% or more, social pension beneficiaries, those in economic hardship, transplant, chronic, or cancer patients, blood donors, firefighters, veterans, and registered unemployed individuals.
Users are advised to confirm their exemption status and documentation at their health centers and to use these facilities first for non-urgent medical needs.
