The deadline for submitting proposals for the third phase of the Madeira Central and University Hospital construction has been extended to October 13.
This phase of the project was put out to tender for the second time, after the first attempt received no bids. The current procedure has a new base price of 415 million euros, a significant increase from the initial 265 million euros.
The regional secretary for Equipment and Infrastructure attributed the cost increase to international instability affecting the prices of oil, energy, and raw materials. This third phase will cover general infrastructure, finishes, and technical installations. The construction work is currently halted.
