Madeira's economy experienced a slowdown for the second consecutive month in June 2026, according to the Regional Economic Activity Indicator (IRAE) released by the Regional Statistics Directorate of Madeira (DREM).
Despite the deceleration, economic activity maintained a growth trajectory for the 63rd month in a row. The tourism sector saw a 1.8% decrease in overnight stays, although total revenues rose by 6.5%. Electricity generation grew by 3.7%, but diesel consumption fell by 7.0%.
Confidence indicators improved in industry, commerce, and services but declined in construction. Private consumption and investment showed mixed signals, with growth in some segments and declines in others, such as sales of light passenger vehicles and cement.
