The President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, has guaranteed that public transport social passes will not increase in price in 2027. This commitment includes the Passe 23, the Mais 65 pass, and the 30 and 40 euro passes.
Albuquerque stated that concession contracts with transport operators will be reviewed to accommodate rising operational costs, such as fuel and other consumables. "At this moment, we will maintain next year both the Passe 23, the over 65s pass, the 30 euros pass, and the 40 euros pass," he said.
The official added that contract adjustments will allow for cost increases to be absorbed. Compensation mechanisms within the contracts will be used, with values subject to technical procedures and oversight by the Court of Auditors. The Regional Government will also continue to ensure a price difference for fuel compared to mainland Portugal.
