The Regional Government of Madeira has published an ordinance amending the regulations of the Degraded Property Recovery Program (PRID). The changes aim to strengthen financial aid, broaden access criteria, and simplify the application process, adapting the program to the current economic reality.
The maximum amount for small-scale works has been increased from 20,000 to 35,000 euros (a 75% rise), and for larger interventions resulting from adverse weather or disasters, the value increases from 50,000 to 70,000 euros (a 40% increase). Income limits for eligibility have also been updated, allowing more families to benefit from the program. Required documentation has been reduced, and administrative procedures simplified to expedite applications.
The PRID, managed by IHM, supports the recovery of degraded properties intended for permanent primary residence. Since its inception, approximately 500 families have benefited from the program. Applications are open year-round and can be submitted online or in person at the IHM headquarters.
