The south coast of Madeira island is under a yellow alert due to high temperatures, a warning that will be in effect throughout the weekend.
The alert covers the period from 9:00 AM on Saturday until 6:00 PM on Sunday. The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere forecasts very cloudy skies today, with cloudiness decreasing in the afternoon, generally appearing as partly cloudy on the southern slopes. Winds will be light to moderate from the northeast, potentially blowing stronger at the eastern and western extremities of the island and in the highlands. The maximum temperature forecast is 29°C and the minimum is 22°C. Waves on the north coast are expected to be 1 to 2 meters, and on the south coast 1 meter, with sea water temperature between 23°C and 25°C.
