Madeira Secures Over 300 Million in State Budget for 2027

The President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, announced that the Autonomous Region will receive over 300 million euros in the 2027 State Budget. According to Albuquerque, this amount fulfills the commitment previously agreed upon with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance in Lisbon.

The funds allocated to Madeira represent an increase compared to the previous year. The amount replacing the Cohesion Fund, which the region is not eligible for, remains the same as last year, with 82 million euros designated for extraordinary health expenses and 17.5 million for employment policies. Additionally, an increase for the University of Madeira is planned.

Albuquerque acknowledged that the funds are never sufficient for all challenges but emphasized the fairness of the commitments made. Regarding the ferry service, the president stated it is not a priority for the Region, and it is up to the State to launch the public tender for the connection.
