The President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, confirmed that two Portuguese descendants, originally from the island, are among the fatalities of the earthquakes that struck Venezuela.
Albuquerque stated that he does not yet have data on the injured and displaced, but maintains constant contact with the Republic's Government. He reiterated Madeira's willingness to assist in integrating the national contingent providing aid to the Venezuelan population.
With tens of thousands of people missing, the next 48 hours are crucial for search and rescue operations.
