The University of Madeira (UMa) recently held an awards ceremony to announce the winners of its Scientific Excellence and Research Incentive Prizes. This initiative aims to recognize merit, promote the quality of scientific output, and stimulate research activity within the institution.
The 2025 Scientific Excellence Prize was awarded to Rosa Perestrelo from the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Engineering (FCEE) and researcher at the Madeira Chemistry Center (CQM), for her high scientific impact. Honorable mentions were also given to António Martins and Jorge Pereira.
Within the scope of the 2025 UMa Scientific Research Incentive Prize, Fábio Mendonça from the FCEE and a member of the Interactive Technologies Institute – LARSyS (ITI-LARSyS) was the recipient. This prize, funded by Millennium BCP, aims to recognize and encourage researchers in the consolidation phase of their careers. Cíntia França and Ana Lúcia Faria received honorable mentions.
