The 5th edition of MadIT – Madeira Innovation Talks was held today, 30 October 2026, at the Madeira Congress Centre in Funchal. Organised by the Madeira regional branch of the Portuguese Order of Engineers, the event is open to the public. Entry is free, subject to registration and limited to available seats.
The conference featured first-person stories on innovation, engineering, science and technology, ranging from astrobiology to motorsport engineering and deep-sea exploration. The afternoon session focused on artificial intelligence, including talks on Madeira's airport, the robot Semilha and the influence of algorithms on democracy.
About 40 Year 12 arts students from Escola Secundária Francisco Franco followed the presentations and sketched their interpretations of the themes in real time, according to a statement from the organisers.
