PCP Member of the European Parliament, João Oliveira, conducted a working visit to the Autonomous Region of Madeira, focusing on housing issues and the reinforcement of European funds.
Oliveira met with representatives from the Madeira Housing Institute and the Association of Municipalities, emphasizing the need for simpler, less bureaucratic access to EU financial resources. He also highlighted the urgency of increasing public investment in housing to address social needs and high real estate market prices.
The MEP criticized the concentration of decisions within the European Commission, advocating for greater regional adaptation in the application of community funds to meet Madeira's specific needs. The visit also addressed environmental and quality of life issues.
