The Regional Secretary of Health and Civil Protection, Micaela Freitas, conducted a monitoring visit to Army and Public Security Police (PSP) teams at a concentration point for fire surveillance and patrols.
Micaela Freitas emphasized the importance of these teams in prevention and direct community contact, stating that "For the population, it represents security, people feel safe." The effectiveness of joint work coordinated from the Regional Center for Relief Operations (CROS) was also highlighted.
Since early July, Army teams have conducted 56 patrols, covering over 9,200 kilometers. The PSP, since June, has covered more than 28,000 kilometers with 264 personnel, issuing citations for unauthorized bonfires. The Army has doubled its operational capacity, integrating the Special Rural Firefighting Device (DECIR), which has an investment of 1.6 million euros from the Regional Government. Micaela Freitas urged strict adherence to safety rules, reminding that prevention starts with each citizen.
