The Caniçal Goods Port has received three new Liebherr LHM 420 cranes, which arrived on the island in mid-September. The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, will visit the facilities on Monday, October 19th, at 10:30 AM.
The private investment, made by OPM, amounts to 14 million euros. These new cranes, which operate primarily on electric energy, promise to make the loading and unloading process more efficient and faster, reducing waiting times. An average increase in movements per hour from 11.36 to 20 is expected.
This acquisition complements the recent 1.8 million euro investment in four new horizontal handling equipment units from the Kalmar brand.
