Miguel Castro, an independent deputy, met with Martim Santos, the director of RTP Madeira, to discuss the needs of the public radio and television service in the region. The meeting focused on valuing professionals, reinforcing teams, training, and modernizing technical equipment, with particular attention to radio and coverage of Porto Santo.
Martim Santos highlighted the need to renew staff and update skills, emphasizing RTP Madeira's importance for local and overseas communities. The necessity of a correspondent in Porto Santo and the urgency of modernizing radio equipment, which has seen little investment since 2011, were also acknowledged.
Miguel Castro believes these identified needs support his resolution project, which calls for a plan to enhance RTP Madeira, including a diagnosis, priorities, costs, funding, and an execution timeline for television and radio.
