The deadline for submitting proposals for the third phase of the Central and University Hospital of Madeira's construction has been postponed to October 13th.
This phase of the new hospital was put out to tender for the second time, after the first attempt failed to attract any bids. The current procedure has a new base price of 415 million euros, a significant increase from the initial 265 million.
The Regional Secretary for Equipment and Infrastructure cited international instability, leading to higher oil, energy, and raw material costs, as the reason for the increase. This third phase will cover general infrastructure, finishes, and technical installations. Work is currently on hold.
