Câmara de Lobos announced the winners of the 6th João Augusto d’Ornelas Literary Prize after evaluating 76 submissions, the highest number of entries ever.
The jury awarded first prize to 'O Retornado' by Jorge Mendonça, praising its "engaging nature and the creative, imaginative way it explores storytelling through a temporally inverted narrative," drawing parallels with 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'. Second prize went to Joana Neves for 'A Biblioteca dos Bêbados', and third to Sebastião Alves for 'A Garrafa de 1895'.
Evaluation criteria included thematic relevance to Madeira's vineyards and wine, literary quality, creativity, and innovation. Winners will receive cash prizes, and the awarded stories will be published.
